ABOUT KI-COACHING
KI-Coaching is a modern and therapeutic approach to martial arts that is rooted in the shotokan karate tradition. KI-Coaching harmonizes and recycles an individual’s internal energy, and improves their natural balance through private or group training sessions.
Ki
Ki is the Japanese word for the life-force energy that circulates within the body of every living being. Its course inside the body follows the meridians of acupuncture and was identified over 4000 years ago by Chinese medicine. On a human level, Ki represents the energy that circulates through a kinetic network. It assists in the proper operation of physiological activity. Ki is often presented as endlessly flowing, invisible matter. It can also be defined as a system’s ability to provide a product or obtain a result. This vital energy represents what the esoteric medieval Christian tradition called the Soul, a notion that has been completely drained of meaning today. This concept of a dynamic element is a universal one for it has equal significance in China with Qi (pronounced Ch’i), Dogons from the Nyama (a highly traditional Malian people), Orenda for Iroquois Indians, and Prana in the Hindu faith.
Coaching
Coaching addresses an individual’s personal development. It helps them find balance and fulfillment in every area of their life. The main goal of coaching is the elaboration, accomplishment and validation of a person’s life vision.
Let there be no misunderstanding
It is very important to dissociate the act of combat, which is essentially the destruction or suppression of an opponent, and the art of combat, which takes a philosophical approach by focusing on the elimination of the attack without destroying the person.
Contemporary society has a distorted image of martial arts. The media gives massive coverage to modern circus games composed of extremely violent combats between doped competitors whose only objective is to annihilate their opponent. Aside from the televised show’s entertainment quality for rabid fans of bloody combats, these spectacles do not incorporate the philosophical spirit of martial arts. Since the invention of firearms and the development of modern democracies, it is highly unlikely that a mortal, barehanded combat would be the only alternative to human conflict. Therefore it is interesting to approach a martial art therapeutically; as an optimization of an individual’s health capital and as an effective self-defensive art. A therapeutic martial art also works on an individual’s fear and the lack of control that comes with daily, stressful situations in a modern urban environment.
Who can benefit from KI-Coaching ?
KI-Coaching is for everyone. Men, women and children of all ages can benefit from it and adapt it to their capabilities.
If you are often tired and weak; if you have trouble concentrating; if your memory plays tricks on you; if you find that you are becoming clumsy; if you are a senior citizen and are concerned about the effects of age on your physical potential; if you are on edge, even aggressive at times; if you are unable to channel your energy and are subjected to intense pressure at work; if you lack self-confidence; if your shyness ruins your life and paralyzes you in stressful situations; if you do not exercise enough or at all; if you feel frustrated with your life and deal with difficult events by keeping your emotions bottled up inside; if you are in perfect physical and mental health but worry about the future preservation of your health capital; if you practice shotokan karate and wish to explore the therapeutic aspects of martial arts; if your child is introverted or apathetic; or if you are unsatisfied with the shape of your body, then the practice of KI-Coaching can effectively reduce your muscular, energetic and psychological imbalances, improve your physical condition and optimize your body’s different potential.
